Caton Farm Road/Bruce Road Phase I Study
Public Information #2 Meeting Summary

A Public Information Meeting to discuss the development of the Caton Farm/Bruce Road project was held on June 5th and June 7th, 2007 at Lockport Township High School and Lewis University respectively. The objective of the Public Information Meeting (PIM) was to present the alternatives to be carried forward for public comment and response.

The PIM´s, held on June 5th and June 7th from 4 to 8 p.m., were identical in content and were set up in an open house format. A power point presentation was set-up to discuss the project development from the previous PIM in the Spring of 2002, which ran every half hour. Exhibits were prepared of all the alternates to be carried forward and pertinent data.

The PIM´s were advertised in the May 17th and May 31st of the Herald News newspaper. In addition, individual letters of invitation were sent to area elected officials, community leaders and other adjacent and/or interested parties/property owners, and identified project stakeholders. Over 1100 letters were sent out. The PIM was also advertised on the project website.

A project Brochure was developed and available at the PIM for all attendees. The Project Brochure included a more detailed description of the purpose of the meeting, the need for the improvement, the scope of the work, the project schedule and information about right-of-way-acquisition. An overall project map was shown depicting all of the alternates being considered. A comment/note sheet was also provided within the Project Brochure. All comments were asked to be submitted by June 22, 2007.

Detailed exhibits were on display for inspection by the PIM attendees. Exhibits with aerial photography were provided for each of the 6 alternates to be carried forward showing proposed geometry, existing/proposed right-of-way, and impacted areas. Exhibits elaborating on the project schedule, right-of-way acquisition, purpose and need, impact summary, federal aid timeline, traffic projections and high accident locations were also displayed.

The PIM provided an opportunity for attendees to discuss the project and ask questions. Attendees could submit comments via a court reporter or by written response. All comments were asked to be submitted by June 22, 2007 or submit an electronic comment via the project email address (comments@cfb-study.com).There were 138 individuals that signed-in at the PIM on June 5th at Lockport Township High School in the City of Lockport, Illinois. There were 51 individuals that signed-in at the PIM on June 7th, at Lewis University in Romeoville, Illinois. A total of 67 written comments and 21 verbal comments via court reporter were received at and/or subsequent to the PIM.
