General Issues

This web site uses a combination of Cascading Style Sheets and Java Script to create the navigation menus above. Although this allows for the navigation to visually take up less space on the web page, it does increase some of the time it takes for the pages to download. If you click on a tab and a menu does not immediately appear, give it a couple of seconds before clicking again. A second click may be especially necessary when using Microsoft's Internet Explorer, but it is not consistent. Please email the webmaster with any questions/problems you have. Provide as much detail as possible so that the webmaster can best answer your question:

Site Navigation

The main navigation for this site is through the tabs at the top of each page. These tabs work much like menus in programs (such as the browser you are using to view this). The main difference is in how the menus, once opened are closed. In order to close a menu you have to do one of four things:

  • move your cursor to another tab (show)
  • click again on the tab whose menu is opened (show)
  • click on the "x" in the menu (show)
  • or click on a menu item to navigate to a new page (show)

The ">" is another form of navigation used on this site. When you place your cursor over it (clicking is unnecessary) an image or text will appear (show), usually right next to the ">." Simply moving your cursor off of the ">" hides the image or text that appears.

text links

Text links will look similar to the one above. If a text link is directed to an address outside of this web site (i.e. those links found on the Internet Links page) or to a PDF file (see below) a new window will be opened in your browser when the text link is clicked; this means that in order to return to this site you will need to close the new browser window. If it is a link to a page within this site, than typically the new page will open within the same browser window (when this isn't the case you will normally be informed); in this case you may use your browser's back button to return to the previous page.

Printing Issues

Although this web site is designed to be viewed on the screen it should also print fairly well on standard 8-1/2 x 11 paper. If there is difficulty printing, just about all of the text on this site with the exception of the menus and PDF files can be copied and pasted into a word processing program and printed from there.

Most of the PDF files (see below) located on this site are intended not only to be viewed on the screen but also to be printed on a standard 8-1/2 x 11 printer. When printing a PDF file, it is best to use the print command contained within Acrobat Reader rather than the print command from the browser.

Portable Document Format (PDF)

Many areas of this site use PDF files. To view these files, you will need Adobe Acrobat Reader version 4.0 and later. Acrobat Reader can be downloaded for free from Adobe's web site: www.adobe.com. Acrobat Reader works much like a word processing program except that you can't edit the content. To navigate to other pages within a PDF file, be sure to use Reader's tool bar and not the browser tool bar.

When there is a link to a PDF file within this web site, a new browser window will open. To return to the page where the link to the PDF is contained you will need to close or minimize the window in which you are viewing the PDF.
