  • An update on the status of the project was presented to the Committee.
  • A presentation was made regarding the NEPA/404 Merger Process and where the Caton Farm/Bruce Road project stands within that process.
  • Environmental Concerns and coordination efforts in regard to those concerns were discussed.
  • A presentation of the full range of potential River Crossing Corridors and Roadway Approach Alignments was presented and recommendations were made as to which alternatives to carry forward tor further study
  • A presentation was made regarding the need for local agency leadership to preserve right-of-way for feasible alignment corridors.
  • The anticipated schedule for the remainder of the project was discussed including a time frame for conducting the next public information meeting.

  • A presentation of the Traffic Conditions Report was given. Note: this report has been superceded by the Traffic Conditions Report dated 02/06
  • The reports conclusions and recommendations were given.
  • The TCC voted to drop Option O (Des Plaines River Bridge Only), Option M (Cedar Road) and Option N (Briggs Street and U.S. Route 6).
  • Option G (Gougar Road), Option H (I-355 Frontage Road) and Option I (New Alignment between Gougar Road and Cedar Road) will be advanced for further detailed investigation.

  • The Village of Homer Glen, Homer Township and the Village of New Lennox are new additions to the TCC.
  • The consultants involved with this project updated the TCC members on recent activities associated with this project. A summary of the two public information meetings and the Intergovernmental Workshop was presented. The status of the traffic demand forecasting was also presented. It is expected to be completed in November, and presented to the TCC in December.
  • A discussion of inferior alignments was undertaken. It was decided that alignments B, J, K, and L would be removed from further study. It was also determined that a new alignment (N) would be added to the study. Alignment N consists of Bruce Road east to Briggs Street, Briggs Street south of U.S. Route 6, and then east on U.S. Route 6 to 159th Street.
  • An Exhibit (see below) was presented at the meeting that shows all of the improvement alternates that are currently under consideration.
